Things that mattered to me in the past doesn't seem all that important to me right now. Like what D said before, how we think 2 years ago is totally different from what we are thinking right now. And I find it really true. The things that I may have treasured in the past are not the things that I want to treasure the most at this moment of my life.
I always tell people to enjoy every step of their lives. Don't think of wanting to grow up too quickly and just absorb all the essence of what your current age brings you. Because every step in this journey called life is different from every other step you have taken before or will take in future. Till today, I still believe in that.
The world is so big out there. Where we are right now is just a minute fraction of this world. Why be stuck in our own little worlds here, be petty over small little things, fret over how the future will be like, worry about the slightest things, get furious at non-existent problems, be jealous over materialistic objects, and all the other emotions that get you down and under.
That being said, I too am guilty of the many mentioned.
Treasure the things that are around us now.
Don't wait till its gone to regret.
But what goes around, will come around.
