That was on the cover page of Straits Times Home newspaper.
More and more couples are going overseas, usually places of nice scenic locations such as Australia and New Zealand (my favourite two hotspots for nice locations). This is so because most of them feel that taking wedding potraits here in Singapore is getting too stale and that everyone's pictures are of the same background and such. Hence, these people are venturing outside of our tiny little island to find something more exotic.
Spending $15,000 on the bill to take these shoots out of the country is normal. Would you spend your hard earned savings for about a year to go abroad to take your wedding pictures? Someone once told me before that there is no point spending so much money on your wedding pictures when you will only take it once, and then look through it once, and leave it in your cupboard to collect dust. How often will you ever take it out again to view or show others? Therefore, that person felt that its a total waste of money spending huge bucks on wedding shoots. However, on the other hand, there are people who are willing to go all out to spend that kind of money just to make their photo album or walls more beautiful with a unique setting and style. They may say that its the experience and memories that is kept deep within oneself that last a lifetime. And that is priceless.
Well, to me... I find both views rather convincing. Both has its pros and cons. Money is hard earned and I am unsure myself whether I would spend it on just taking pictures with a nice background. But yet at the same time, we only live once and I really want to spend special moments with that special someone. I seriously do not know. Maybe when the time comes, shall we decide again.
